Tibetan Runner Rug

One piece · made by Pema

Tibetan Khaden Style Runner Rug in Roundel/Medallions Pattern, 120 knots per square inch.

A long Khaden-style hallway runner hand-knotted from yak wool, the field carrying a row of roundel medallions for longevity — a Tibetan auspicious motif older than the workshop itself. Worked at 120 knots per square inch in Pema's loom house near Boudhanath stupa. Sheds gently for the first three months as the surface fibre comes free, then settles into a lifetime.
